McGinnis to Host Open House and Town Hall Meeting on Nov. 17
ALTOONA – In his continuing effort to stay in touch with constituents, Rep. John McGinnis (R-Blair) is hosting a combined open house and town hall meeting in Altoona on Thursday, Nov. 17. The event will take place at his district office, 1331 12th Ave. (the former Gables building)
The open house will run from 4:30-7 p.m., with the town hall meeting scheduled from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
In addition to answering questions regarding legislation and local issues during the town hall meeting, McGinnis plans to review the end of the 2015-16 session and discuss what may lie ahead in the 2017-18 session, which begins in January.
“Pension reform is expected to be high on our agenda,” said McGinnis. “I am optimistic we will make an effort in the new session, perhaps early in the new session, to push for real and effective pension reform. It will not be easy with the strained budget we will face in the coming year, but dealing with it sooner will make for less strained budgets in the future.”
The event is open to residents of the 79th Legislative District, which includes the City of Altoona, Logan Township, and parts of Allegheny Township and Tunnelhill Borough.
