ALTOONA – In his continuing effort to stay in touch with constituents, Rep. John McGinnis (R-Blair) is hosting a town hall meeting in Altoona on Thursday, May 31. The meeting will be held in the theater at the Altoona Area Public Library, 1600 5th Ave., from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The theater is located in the library’s lower level.

ALTOONA – Rep. John McGinnis (R-Blair) is scheduled to be released from UPMC Altoona on Tuesday, Nov. 21. He was admitted to the hospital on Saturday, Nov. 18, with stroke-like symptoms. Subsequent tests confirmed McGinnis had suffered a moderate stroke.

HARRISBURG – Rep. John McGinnis (R-Blair) today cast a no vote on the General Appropriations Bill for Fiscal Year 2017-18, which passed in the House of Representative by a count of 173-27. House Bill 218 now goes to Gov. Tom Wolf for consideration.

HARRISBURG – Rep. John McGinnis (R-Blair) today voted against legislation that would reform Pennsylvania’s two public pension systems. The House of Representatives passed Senate Bill 1 by a vote of 143-53 and sent it to Gov. Tom Wolf, who is expected to sign the measure into law next week.

HARRISBURG – Rep. John McGinnis (R-Blair) today voted against House Bill 218, the budget bill for fiscal year 2017-18 which was passed by the House of Representatives by a vote of 114-84. The spending plan totals $31.52 billion, which is $815 million less than Gov. Tom Wolf’s proposal, and includes no tax increases or borrowing.

HARRISBURG – Joined by other pension reform advocates, Reps. John McGinnis (R-Blair) and Paul Schemel (R-Franklin) today took part in a news conference at the state Capitol to reset Pennsylvania’s Pension Debt Clock and call for a real solution to the public pension crisis. The clock, which is located in the East Wing Rotunda, was unveiled last year to bring attention to the Commonwealth’s growing and enormous pension debt.
